And then...

The next shaw I finished was yet another test knit.

This time for Romi's Pins and Lace Club.

It is a shawl by the name of Night Blossom, and I knit it from some handspun that had been perking in my stash for a while.

I really love the color of this yarn.  It's hard to see in any of the pictures, but there are flecks of bright pink in there, and while I don't normally like pink, in this case it just makes me smile.

There are a few reasons I knit from the written for Romi patterns.

I started doing it shortly after I started test knitting for her, because all of the people in the group who were actually doing the testing with any speed were knitting from the charts and I know the written needed testing too.

Also the way Romi charts things is not really conducive to the way I knit. On the wrong side row (if it's mostly purl) I usually will not turn my work, but work back in the other direction with the right side still facing me. Romi's charts are what you see is what you knit, while many other designers chart as what you see is what you get, so that on the wrong side rows I would have to mentally flip all of those stitches for Romi charts. I still have to flip them for the written, but somehow it's easier for me there.

Also I knit left handed, and reading charts I sometimes start from the wrong end of the row, and sometimes that does make a difference.
